`The Extinction
By Adalasia

Server Lore

As the centuries wore on, the treaty between the Eleven Covenant and The Cold Embrace fell into a hateful and bloody feud. The rulers of the Cold Embrace were constantly targeted for execution, killing several successors to the throne and multitudes of KnightGuard by ignorant separatists of the Elven Covenant. Wars upon the jungle became the hunting ground for slaves and vicious blood sport for newly turned Varkyn as well as the prize destination for when Blood Lusting occurred. This forced Deca to move the sleeping Elders multiple times to keep them safe and every time he did- his rage poured out in bloodshed to protect his wife and friends.

Deca had turned into a darker form of himself, harbouring a painful hatred towards the Elves, instating the Dark Merchants to become a rare sect of wolf like hunters. With high priced orders to raid their diminishing bloodlines, and, one by one the elven banners fell. Elves became a highly prized pet to obtain, caged like an animal, used simply as cattle and nothing more than a prized spectacle on a gold leash at parties. Rumours began to spread they had became an extinct race. But nothing saved Deca from his pain.
Famines ravaged the North, killing thousands as precious food and resources from the jungle ceased, which created nothing but hatred and vicious war between the two races with all the intent to wipe the other from the world.

The only barrier between the two races was Anour Hill, the great High King formed a truce, ordering a grace period for two thousand years. Aligning his beautiful Kingdom directly in between the North and the Southern border to prevent the battle from continuing. In that time the Kingdom took control of the Northern border, not allowing anyone to cross the border without permission and escort. And for an age this was successful. Both races retreated, licking their wounds and began to rebuild what was left of the communities. However at this time. There was less than a handful of Elven families and only three bloodlines left. This forced the elves to mate with humans to keep the bloodlines alive in any fashion at all. The remnants of the Elven bloodlines had diminished to a few pathetic strands of diluted offspring that harboured traits of the elven features when mated with humans, but nothing of their former glory.

Deca had gone into seclusion- trying his best to help Anour Hill see he wanted peace and be rid of the false accusations against him. His drive was to leave for Alexandra a golden era for when she woke to see an empire for her to govern. And with her in his heart he slowly re-established the North. Creating a legion of KnightGuards to watch and protect human villages that lived there. The focus became paramount to the lives of the people, and it began to heal Deca in a small way. The man was seen with no shirt on in the snow, building the town with his own hammers alongside the humans. And, over time the people adapted to the rare timeless condition they seemed to have.

The title “Vampire” slowly drifted to become a heretic name of the past and the loving high King of the Blue Mountains King Kulnir Varkyn who ruled with a kind heart for fourty thousand years, had blessed them with the new description of “The Varkyn.” It had become a symbol of charity and kindness. Though it was at the end of King Kulnir’s life Deca met Adalasia. The lithe little white haired pict baby was carried home by the King himself in his furs and placed into the arms of a wet nurse, naming the baby personally when it arrived in the dark castle walls of BrahgdnHuld. No one truly understood the meaning of her name till she grew into a woman. But it was Deca who was the most hash on her, refusing anyone to collar and own the BloodDoll, he’d whip her in public, demand use even after feeding from her. Taking an unnatural obsession to her with no explanation why.
However, every time she grew her hair long he’d hold her down and cut it off, when no other BloodDoll had been told to do a similar task. More and more, Deca enforced rule upon rule on the woman till she began to crack, the girl was found constantly in tears, curled up by the fire- with no words to describe what was happening to her. It was not until she was handed to the Future King Keane of Brahgdn for his journey into the mounds of the dead. It was here Deca began to change.

`The KingMaker

By Adalasia

BrahgdnHuld was in a constant murmur of the change. The Varkyn were never really known for their love of change. The wandering years that left an vast and endless history of the Varkyn had brought a new beginning. Something that had never been done before.

Deca stood leaning up against the doorframe with his arms folded staring at her as she stood in front of the fireplace starting into it as it burned. He pushed off the doorframe with his elbow and walked up to her slowly. He lifted up her chin to look at him, her cheeks still streaked with tears, the silence between them showed she was not recovered. He had given her time but it was not working. Nothing was working. Months had passed and there was no possibility she would be able to rebuild her confidence alone. “You’re abandoned Ada, there is nothing royal about this. The more you are alone and stay alone the more brittle you become….. You're being put in the care of Vrok. The man seems capable of your interests and has expressed a want to own you. Any other circumstance I would not agree. But what he has asked for I think will be good and if I put you in his care, maybe there you will start resembling a hint of what you used to be.” He let go of her chin staring at her for a moment and turned to walk to the desk and sat down.

He reached for the dark plume quill and began to write on the parchment book of orders he normally addressed for her. Adalasia walked to him and stood in front of the desk. “Im being onsold to Vrok?” She asked quietly. “No… You're being sanctioned till further notice to be cared for.” She stopped looking up at her with few tapps of the quill feather on the table as he spoke, then went back to writing. She watched him write in the silence holding the gravity of what he had just said. “And.. You have been turning Sorin?” She looked down at the page he was scratching on. “Sorin? Yes… Your tactics were not achieving this fast enough.. I understand you have only Keanes understanding of the Bloodrights.. But it was wrong… You can be faster about it you know, You do not leave a man waiting.” Deca didn't look up but paused with his writing with a slight tilt of his head, rolling his lips. The pause he held hinted a resentment she had not seen in him since she was owned by him. “You forget Ada the way we order rule here is the balance of power. You have to have no authority in your blood. You keep asking everyone for permission.. You are not capable of being a Queen. .. Kingmaker, yes” He stopped his scratchings and looked up at her looking into her eyes. “Sorin has right to stand this position he will be made High King… Something you cannot achieve.” He left the room in silence while she stood there in conviction, finishing what he was writing, then leaned back in his chair and folded his arms to look at the scrap of a woman that once was a Queen consort.
They remained looking at each other. The History they had together spanned across eight thousand years but to him she seemed nothing more than an abandoned pet. She had lost her lustre in formality leaving her a small and fragile girl, yet in her eyes that had cried so often in his arms he saw not fight. She was not intending to argue yet relied in his judgement in resignation.

He stood up and walked to her close lifting her chin to his tall stature and kissed her. Gently and sincerely. And looked at the pet he had once collared. “Im sending you to him tonight. I will have the guard pack your things. You will return for the coronation to pass the crown to him. You will remain in waiting as a KingMaker and if you wish to be put to slumber, you will be the last to be woken and in a dire place if we do so…. So..”

She looked up at him without any word. He pulled her to him and held her. She cuddled into him in silence till the tears came. Deca held her till the guards came to get her. She was moved as the moon rose in the sky to the manor house outside Shadowscape village where she was delivered to Vrok.
