Hark now, sisters, and listen to the ancient story of the Amazons
Today I'm going to talk to you about the History of The Amazons. The root of who we are today.
Our beginning takes us far back in time. Back before Man made nations of Hyboria and was divided instead in tribes.

This particular tribe our tale starts with has no name known to history.
This tribe had the protection of a demon that walked the land in the guise of a man-tiger.
A male, mighty of stature but with a tiger's head.
This demon protected the tribe... But at a price.
It's price was, as it usually is in these cases, a woman of beauty.
Which the demon would ravish and then eat.
The women of this tribe were of course not particularly happy about their prospects
And together they prayed for deliverance
And their prayers were heard... By Morrigan... The mother of Battle and Love
She descended in mortal guise and took the place of the tiger demon’s next sacrifice

Well....
Basically she rutted the demon unconscious, chained him up in stone; leaving only his ruby eyes alive
And Morrigan gave the women of the tribe the means to overthrow the males of their society
Which they did... with no male survivors
These women were the first Amazons.
The Amazons of old were women both regal and fierce; trained by the Raven Queen, Morrigan herself, no man was their match in battle. Astride great warmounts they conquered the surrounding lands and they founded the great city of Amazonia, a place of both cultural intellect and fierce matriarchy, a symbol of female strength.

Time passed. The winds of time blew across Hyboria and saw the rise and fall of many a great nation, but Amazonia flourished.
One day an adventurer was captured in an Amazon raid.
Through prowess of mind and battle he gained the favour of the Amazon Queen
But more than a warrior, he was a thief.. His name was Conan
He stole the two ruby eyes of the Demon Tiger statue
Inadvertently freeing the demon that Morrigan had imprisoned.
The battle that followed was terrible and when the dust had finally settled the proud city of the Amazons was gone.
Bereft of leadership; a nation to call their own, the Amazons wandered aimlessly, sometimes alone, sometimes in small groups.
But in their veins run the blood of the ancients, and the call is primal and savage. A call to all amazons.

And this is where our tale truly begins...

(The history of the Amazons is derived from The Savage Sword of Conan #6, Amazons and Tigers)

Amazons is a guild consists mainly of female characters, comprised of players who enjoy RPing strong, fearless and proud female warriors. Independent of the tyranny found in a man's world, we will strive typify the imagery of Amazons, Shieldmaidens, Valkyries or whatever name history has pinned on those who defied patriarchal tradition.
Male characters can have a place in this guild as craftsmen, thralls and entertainers and earn some standing in those venues.

Amazons will be located on the ‘Exiled’ RP/PvP server with a 100% immersive RP. That means to always be in-character on this server.

The Amazons have a long story in Hyboria. Originally founded in 2008, Amazons started in Age of Conan, where they many years made themselves a name, mostly by their fierce combatative nature.
Years changed the Amazons, some may say it even mellowed them some.

But Amazons will always be the home of fierce female warriors, whether by sword or mind; always be a place for those who would oppose and challenge the traditional patriarchy.
Anyone who embodies The Amazons Code and exemplifies our theme, the ideal of a strong spirited, fearless and proud warrioress that values kith and kin foremost before personal interests, is welcome to join.

Grant us passion in battle
Honor in death
And the wisdom to know the difference
Watch over us, oh mighty goddess Morrigan
May your dark wing embrace and guide your daughters to victory.

I was in a small 'Amazons' style RP guild in AoC for a while, was a really nice community even though there weren't too many of us. I suspect I'm probably a bit too casual a RP-er for this particular guild, but good luck with it! :)

Morrigan, The Raven Queen

-The Amazon religion-

The Morrigan (or commonly known as The Mother Night), the Queen of Queens, ancient Amazon goddess of the land (fertility), war, and death. In triple aspects she was known by names such as Nemain (Frenzy), Macha (Death) or Badbh (Battle). In her aspects she appeared over the battlefield as a large black raven, inciting the warriors to become crazy with war-lust, and thus, causing their own demise. The Morrigan was not death herself, she was the harbinger of death to those who would scorn an warrior sister. Mother of Moonlit Night. She is the Kali and Athena of the Amazonian pantheon, the Dark Mother. To some, she is the third Fate, Verðandi. She of the quiet whispers of wisdom and the one whom all Amazons look up to and to whom we must respect deeply. The Raven Queen.

Morrigan, represents the dark aspect that all Amazons experience and possess. Everything emerges from the dark, the child from the womb, the day from night, and Her power exists within this place of potentiality. We also end the cycle by returning to the dark, day gives way to night, our bodies return to the earth, and so the Dark Mother blesses warriors by releasing them from Her realm and calls us back when it is time to walk the lands once more. One sisterhood ... always Amazon.

This dark aspect is not something to be feared, for to fear the dark, is to be afraid of our own nature. It is to be understood it is a part of a chaotic neutral natural cycle of rise and fall, expanding and contracting, reaching out and turning inward. The Morrigan offers warriors a way to understand and navigate the dark paths into many worlds throughout their life as an Amazon, if only to overcome our fears and reach out to accept the “fruit” of knowledge she offers us and learn to become the very best. At times she takes mortal form, usually a bright green eyed woman.

'Death has no name, yet it looms everywhere. One can hear it in a mother's wail and in the rattling breath slipping out between spittle-flecked lips. One can spy it in a predator's eyes or in the glassy-eyed stare of the freshly slain. Its heralds screech as they wheel over ripe fields, grown fat from war's excesses. All who have lost a son, daughter, spouse, or parent know death -- and they know it best as the Raven Queen.'
